Pitch Confusion at Wandsworth Common The Sunday Football Association are sending a letter of complaint to County Hall in respect of the alleged annoyance and inconvenience caused to the Fulham Ramblers FC by the park keepers Wandsworth Common last Sunday The Ramblers’ team arrived at pitch No 20 as stated in their league handbook for fixture against Crescent United A team Seeing that the pitch had not been prepared for the game the players walked to the main dressing room no mean distance from their present position in search of the keeper
On arrival at this imposing edifice they met the superintendant who told them to return to pitch 20 When there they were told that the pitch was not ready for use and so returned to the main dressing rooms where no-one was able to obtain information as to what the next trek would be Eventually the superintendant allowed them to use the keepers’ mess room for changing whilst the league vice president Mr J Bunce went in search of another keeper The keeper is alleged to have used abusive language when located and said that he had 1 matches to be played on 9 pitches The superintendant eventually allowed them to use pitch 11 The match began at 11-40 am almost an hour later than schedule The referee in his report blamed the confusion for the delayed kick-off
