The History of Wandsworth Common

Walls

[NOT JUST / A LOAD OF OLD] WALLS

- The Bolingbroke Grove wall between the Elms and Dents

- the rear of the gardens on Heathfield Cottages

- the house and garden walls on Heathfield Road made from the old-old-London Bridge

- the DuBuisson-Sheppard wall on West Side

- the largely missing wall that divided the Extension from the Common

- the wall at the corner of Routh and Trinity

- the wall dividing Collamore from Burntwood Lodge

- the Scope/Surrey Tavern wall

I'd like to be able to date walls by looking at their colour and texture

Many walls precede the houses they surround

Wall at back of Routh and Baskerville

(Also Balham Park Rd - or is it Boundaries?)

When Lyford was planned, the LCC insisted the road ran in front of (this is Lyford)

Wall in alleyway to little houses

Wall across from "Neal's Farm", now gone

New wall separating RVPA from the Cricket Pitches

Nice fence separating RVPA from Trinity Road

Low fences that once criss-crossed the Common have now largely gone. Very pointy! Are there any old sections remaining?

How dangerous they were

Lost their sharp points

Strange bendy wall between Baskerville and Common

Prison wall

Wall behind Heathfield Cottages

Garden walls along Heathfield Road near heathfioeld Cottages

[Gate post - The Stone House"]

Wall behind ? West Side with plaque we'd love to see

Little wall at right angles to Bolingbroke Grove separating two of the 5 Houses

(As pointed out to me by Chris Allis and ?)

?? Fence between Trinity Fields and - bulge to enlarge the cricket pitch

?? Ditto the fence near Dorlcote
