South Western Star — Friday 17 May 1918

What some people would consider a supplemental supply of food was providentially thrown at us last seek. A whale was landed at Battersea, and whale is alleged to be very good eating. Our whale was claimed and carried away the authorities of the Natural History Moseum — in what right we slo not know. Those authorities have sent • whole steak to the Lord Idayot. A curious presetting. it to us. Lord Mayors are nointsheil with tattle ruts, not with the flesh of whales. Fish is not flesh, of course, •hut the newspapers have it " a portion of flesh from the white.' and we are not disposed to enter into a contentious Ispiitition with them now. If the Natural History Museum authorities had mole whale than they could eat they shouhl have sent it to the Mayor of Battersea. It was his whale if it was anybody's, beintow it wall in his borough brit the whale was stranded. And we are quite sure that the Mayor of Battersea is as good a fudge of whale steak as the best Mayor that ever lived.
